Pat Harthun

Co-founder of Beverly Therapists

LCPC, CADC, MT-BC

Each of us has times of change and uncertainty in our lives. Sometimes, we can figure it out on our own. At other times, we seem to get stuck in the same patterns that don’t work. I believe that therapy takes place on several levels. Sometimes the work needs to be done with the client identifying the feelings and issues and then creating options for action. The second level is building the coping skills to deal with the feelings. The deeper level is looking at the beliefs and life experiences that contribute to those feelings. I believe in collaborating with clients in working at their pace, and supporting them as they

explore their individual paths of healing.

I work with individuals in a non-judgmental, collaborative relationship. We start with the individuals’ strengths and explore the barriers that interfere with optimal functioning. I believe in awareness of the mind and body in the counseling process. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), and Board Certified Music Therapist. I earned a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Governors State University, and have been in full time private practice for over 10 years. I have worked in the behavioral health field for over 30 years, and have experience as a music therapist on the treatment team for hospice. I have additional training in EMDR, a trauma resolution treatment, and in addictions. I feel a broader creative perspective allows more options to work with clients and to fine-tune an approach that fits an individual’s style. I have experience with clients with depression, anxiety, addictions, relationship and grief/life transition issues. Children seem to respond to the use of music or other creative media.
